Become A Government Journalist And Be Edited

A Washington Post column by Derrick Dortch has an intriguing headline: "For Journalists, Federal Government Offers Plenty of Job Opportunities."

Dortch is right.  If you can write, simplify complex issues, shoot video, even copy edit, then you have skills that the Federal government wants.  The column highlights the Broadcasting Board of Governors and the Defense Department's Defense Media Activity, and acknowledges that you may not be writing the same type of articles that show up in the New York Times, the Salem Evening News or Fortune.

Want to know how to land  a Federal job? Prior entries in this blog include tips on how to develop a Federal resume and what some of the key duties performed by Federal Flacks. Later this week, I will post a description of the common types of writing performed by Federal flacks.
